VANCOUVER 1/2 MARATON TO FIGHT ALS

Vancouver Half Marathon to Fight ALS

 Mario and Mike Rende

Hello everyone,

On June 27th I will be running the Vancouver Half Marathon in an effort to raise money for the ALS Society of BC.  I will be running the half marathon in memory of my father, Mario Rende.

In 2002 my Dad was diagnosed with ALS, which he battled for two and a half years.  Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is a progressive and fatal disease which destroys the motor neurons that are responsible for controlling voluntary muscles in the body. While fighting ALS my Dad continued to smile, laugh and tell jokes every day.  Although his muscles continued to deteriorate, his positive outlook on life allowed his mind to grow stronger than ever before.  When compared to battling ALS, running a half marathon will be a 'walk in the park'.

Please help me reach my goal of raising $5,000 for the ALS Society of BC.  The ALS Society provides support for individuals with ALS, as well as funding research to find a cure for the disease. ALS BC is vital in assisting families financially by providing equipment such as wheelchairs, lifts, and voice enabled computers.   CLICK HERE TO DONATE

On behalf of my mother, Patricia Rende, and my sister, Andrea Rende, I would like to thank those of you who have contributed over the past five years.  Your support is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike
