People Living with ALS Transportation Support
The ALS Society of BC is proud to introduce the PALS Transportation Support Initiative. The program provides transportation for PALS to attend support Society events, appointments at the ALS Centre, and support groups.
To qualify for the PALS Transportation Support you must be a patient member of the ALS Society of BC. There is no charge for this service.
The program provides transportation for People Living with ALS to:
- Appointments at the ALS Centre
- Appointments at the ALS Centre Mobile Clinics
- Appointments that are ALS care related
- Transportation to Respite Care
- Attend Society Events
- Attend Support Groups
Types of assistance include:
- Ground transportation for those requiring wheelchair accessible vehicles.
- Overnight accomodation for People Living with ALS and a Caregiver if needed when traveling to ALS Centre.
- Assistance in obtaining flights for People Living with ALS traveling to the ALS Centre.
For flight assistance ALS BC utilizes programs provided by Hope Air, a national charity that assists Canadians to receive medical treatment outside their region when they cannot afford the costs.
