Team ALS BC & Yukon Volunteer Program
The ALS Society of BC is a volunteer based organization. We attempt to keep our overhead costs to a minimum so that we can devote as much resources as possible to directly meet the needs of our members. Volunteers of our society are expected to support our objectives and be committed to providing top quality and caring service to our members. ALS is a devastating disease and our volunteers make a significant difference in the lives of those dealing with this disease.
Team ALS BC & Yukon Recognition
The ALS Society of BC recognizes that volunteers are the backbone of our organization. We recognize that volunteers are an integral part of our team – TEAM ALS BC. It is the partnership between staff and volunteers throughout the province that enables the Society to realize its mission: To find the cause of and cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, and provide support to ALS patients, their families and caregivers.
TEAM ALS BC & Yukon was launched at the Volunteer Conference held in November 2005. To increase the visibility of ALS volunteers, a logo and vest were designed. Volunteers were asked to log hours volunteered from this point forward and when a volunteer reaches 50 hours, they were asked to notify the provincial office.
In 2016, the provincial office recorded 7,744 volunteer hours from 457 registered volunteers.
